We believe in a loving God who desires to live in relationship with all of us. A relationship with God opens doors of experiencing life to its fullest; it is the means for a person to discover purpose and meaning. We believe in one pathway to experience this kind of relationship with God and this is through Jesus Christ. He came to earth as God in flesh and lived an exemplary life. Ultimately, he died on a cross as a substitute for every person. Belief in his sacrificial death and subsequent resurrection from the grave is the prerequisite for salvation. Such belief, or “faith,” not only saves persons from their sins–it unites them with a new community, the church. Ultimately, it is this kind of faith in Jesus Christ that entitles one to a heavenly existence at the end of this present life; apart from such faith, a person faces eternal separation from God.
In relationship to God... we believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Heavenly Father, our Creator, is infinitely perfect and intimately acquainted with all our ways. Jesus Christ, God who came in human flesh, bearing the titles “Lord” and “Son of God”is the object of our worship and the subject of our praise. The Holy Spirit continues God’s present activity... convicting, convincing, guiding and comforting. It is the Holy Spirit’s indwelling power that enables people to live a life like Jesus... a godly life.
We believe that the church is the fellowship of all those who place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ for salvation from sins. Thus, the church is the body of Christ on earth. We believe in the unity of the church and recognize one’s faith in Christ as the only prerequisite for membership. The church exists to continue Christ’s practical ministry of compassion toward people and to communicate God’s plan for spiritual reconciliation.
As members of this new community, the body of Christ, the church upholds the truths of Scripture–the Bible–which we hold to be the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.
